A Grand Jury exonerated the officers and deputies who fired their weapons during an altercation that ended in the death of Alteria Woods.

The Grand Jury also charged Andrew Coffee IV with second degree murder among other charges.

Woods was used as a shield from bullets during a S.W.A.T. Team raid in Gifford, Florida.

Coffee, who is in custody in Indian River County Jail, is now being held without bond. He had been in custody for felony possession of cocaine as well as other controlled substances for $63,000 bond at the time. That is now moot after the Grand Jury’s findings.

At the time of the shooting Woods was described as being pregnant, but Coffee’s parents refuted those claims.

Answers in this case were few and far between and many in the Gifford community held rallies for the pre-med student woods.

“I am begging Governor Rick Scott and the FDLE for an outside investigation for the murder of our daughter, Alteria Woods,” said Yolanda, Alteria’s mother to CBS 12 earlier.

Pleas for body cameras were made vocal after this tragic incident.

Coffee was formally charged with second degree murder with a firearm, three counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer by discharging a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and shooting or throwing a deadly missile.
